American flags up at Chico Elks Lodge

 

CHICO — In honor of today as Presidents Day, 192 American flags have been installed for the day at the Chico Elks Lodge.

The flags were put up at 8 a.m. and will be taken down at 5 p.m. today.

With the lodge’s regularly displayed American flag, there are actually 193 flags flying today.

Today is the observance of the birthdays of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Public schools are closed today.

2012 Chico Brewfest

The Chico Elks Lodge #423 and the Chico Noon Exchange Club

Present a 2012 Wine & Brewfest

When: Saturday April 7th 12:00-5:00pm

Where: at Manzanita Place, 1705 Manzanita Avenue, Chico, CA

Cost: $35 in advance & $40 at the door.  There are a limited number of tickets, if all tickets are sold before the event there will be no sales at the door.

This event is SOLD OUT, there are no tickets available.

Free K-12 Field Trip for Public Safety Day

There will be Free K-12 Classroom Field Trip  for Public Safety Day, Thursday, April 12, 2012, 9am-3pm, At the Chico Elks Lodge #423, 1705 Manzanita Avenue in Chico. Admission is Free and the event will be held Rain or Shine.

What Students will see:

  • A Bomb Squad Disposal Robot
  • Helicopter Landing and Take-off
  • Police Dog Demonstration
  • Police Horse Demonstration
  • Vehicle and Service Displays by Chico Police, Butte County Sheriff, Cal Fire, Chico Fire Department, Ambulance & Paramedics
  • Hands on interactive displays
  • Games
  • Educational Handouts
  • Bike and Pedestrian Safety
  • Learn how to use the 911 service and how it works

There is a Covered Picnic Area and a Playground Available, bring your own Snacks or Lunches.
