January Elks Bowling News
The Chico Elks bowling league finished the
fifteenth week, with the Treasurers team in first
place with 11 wins and 5 losses. Team members
are: Gary Nagle, Jack Barnes, Jim Hair, Scott Swi-
gart, and Sub, Carl Lorenzen.
On December 5th, the following ladies held
their annual bake sale for the Major Project. This
brought in $248.50. The ladies were Carolyn Nagle,
Joanne Navarro, Sharon Engle, Allie Miguel and
Sheryl Barnes.
A special “Thank You!” to Marlys Moak for
the great Raffle prize. This was won by Donald
Schumacher.
The League will start getting ready for the
Men’s City Tournament held at AMF Orchard
Lanes the last two weekends of February, 2012. All
eight teams will be entered in this.
Elks Travel League
The Elks Travel League bowled on December
18th at AMF Orchard Lanes. As a result the stand-
ings are: Red Bluff/Chico with 13 wins and 3 losses.
Chico #5 is tied in first place with 13 wins and 3
losses. In second place is Chico #9 with 10 wins
and 6 losses.
The League leaders to win High Scratch and
High Handicap for the men at the end of the season
are: High Scratch Series is Mike Kelly with 665;
High Scratch Game is David Ebright with 268; High
Handicap Series is Mike Ridley with 692; High
Handicap Game is David Jones with 258.
The Women’s League leaders are; High
Scratch Series is Linda Vollweiler with 523; High
Scratch Game is Pat Williams with 201; High
Handicap Series is Frances Arellano with 676; High
Handicap Game is Bethany Whippo with 241.
The League will be bowling at Java Lanes
in Corning on January 15, 2012; the starting
time is
1:00 PM.
ELKS’ LADIES
The Elks’ Ladies that bowl in the Stardusters
League on Monday nights at AMF Orchard Lanes
are: The Elkettes with 27 wins and 29 losses; Elk
Chicks with 27 wins and 29 losses.
Placing in the Stardusters’ League standings
from the Elkette’s team is: Linda Nickas holding
second place in Highest Handicap Series with 241;
Second Highest Pin with 51 pins. This was done on
the 14th week of the League.
Royce’s Girl won the first half. Team mem-
bers: Jodel Ebright, Bethany Whippo, Darlene
Fogleman, and, Sub, Joanne Navarro.
There are several of the women that bowl in
this League that are wives of the men that bowl in
the Chico Elks’ League: Mary Wright, Brandee
Kelly, Jodel Ebright, Linda Vollweiller, Darlene
Fogleman, and Cheryl Ridley, Joanne Navarro
and Paula Franklin.
December Elks Bowling
The Chico Elks Bowling League finished the first third with the Leading Knights winning with a total of 25 wins and 15 losses. Team members are Scott Jones, Paul Arnold, Donald Schumacher and Rhys Severe.
Second place went to the Exalted Rulers with 25.5 wins and 15.5 losses. The Team mem- bers are Gene Wright, Ernie Ridley, Stan Haley and Jim Becker. Scott Swigart bowled a 294 game in week #9. Congratulations, Scott!
ELKS’LADIES BOWLING The two teams of Elks’ Ladies bowling in the Stardusters League on Monday nights are the Elk Chicks with 19 wins and 21 losses. The Elkettes had 15 wins and 24 losses. The Ladies score! now have shirts with team name and a Elks logo on them. Darlene Fogleman is the Secretary of the League.
ELKS TRAVEL LEAGUE The Northern Elks Travel League will be bowling at Shasta Lanes, in Redding on Novem- ber 13th and then at AMF Orchard Lanes in Chico on December 18th. This is the Christmas finger food day. Our starting time is 1 PM.

Bowling News
The Chico Elks bowling started the new season on August 28th. There is a need for 3 bowlers to fill the eight teams. If possible, it would be great to fill the other two teams making a 10 team league.
As everyone knows most of the prize fund goes to the Elks Major Project. The league last season gave $1,700 to this. The League bowls for 31 weeks and the cost to bowl is $15 per week. Call Ernie Ridley, 342-5438, if you would like to join us. The Northern Elks Travel League started its new season on August 21st in Yuba City.
The league is short one team; if anyone would like to bowl, we can use 4 people, men or women. Men have to be a paid up Elks member from any Lodge in the North State.
The League bowls once a month for 8 months, and the cost to bowl is $14 per month per person. The month of September, the League bowls at Tyme to Bowl Lanes in Oroville, Gold Country Casino; start time, 1 PM.
Elk’s Bowling News
The Chico Elks bowling season ended on April 11 with a roll off and sweeper at AMF Orchard Lanes. The League will start up again in August or September, 2011. There will be eight teams or more, if we can fill them. If you would like to bowl, contact Ernie Ridley through the Lodge office. The potluck and awards banquet was held on April 19th at Chico Elks Lodge #423.
Our League ending results were: In first place was the Loyal Knights team with a score of 2,682. Team members were Dave Weldref, Marlin Keller, Don Engle and David Ebright.
Second place went to the Treasurers’ team with a total score of 2,654. Gary Nagle, Sean Olschowka, Jack Barnes and Jim Hair bowled on this team.
In third place were the Lecturing Knights with a score of 2,555. Team members are Ed Anderson, Mike Efford, Richard Carver and Conrad Grinkiewicz.
Ray Navarro, Tony Miguel, Robert Sisk and Mike Ridley are the members of the PER’s bowling team. This team placed in fourth place with a total score of 2,414.
Great bowling was had by all. Congratulations to everyone who took part in the League this year. Hope to see everyone back in the fall. KEEP THEM ROLLING!
ELKS TRAVEL LEAGUE:
The Elks’ Travel League finished the season at Tyme To Bowl Lanes in Oroville on April 10th. A potluck and awards banquet was held on April 19th at Chico Elks Lodge #423. All ten teams will be back next season. The league may need a few bowlers to fill teams. Men have to be a paid up member of an Elks’ lodge, or a son or a son-in-law of an Elk.
League results were: First place went to Chico Lodge Team #8, with 24 wins and 8 losses. Team members were Don Engle, Traci Ebright, Jodel Ebright and David Ebright.
In second place we had a tie between Chico team #7 and Chico team #6 with a total of 20 wins and 12 losses for each team. Chico team #7 members were Joanne Navarro, Ray Navarro, Cheryl Ridley and Mike Ridley. Members of Chico team #6 were Gary Nagle, Carolyn Nagle, Daren Zuponcic and Fred Zuponcic.

The Chico Elks Bowling League just finished their 27th week. The PER’s team is in first place with 16.5 wins and 7.5 losses. Team members are Ray Navarro, Tony Miguel, Robert Sisk, Mike Ridley and sub Ken Greminger.
The roll off and sweeper will be on April 18th; then the potluck and awards will be on April 26th (Tuesday) at the Chico Elks Lodge #423. Happy hour is at 6 PM with dinner at 6:30 PM.
Results below of the Chico City Tournament held in the month of February. All Elks teams did well in the tournament.
LADIES RESULTS:
Division 3 Team Elks Ladies #1 came in first place. Team members are: Linda Rowland, Dar Fogleman, Bethany Whippo and Jodel Ebright.
Individual awards were give to Jodel Ebright in Division 2 Singles where she took third place; she also took first place in All Events.
MEN RESULTS: In DIVISION 1, the Elks Treasures took seventh place. Team members are: Gary Nagle, Jack Barnes, Sean Olschowka and Jim Hair. The Elks PER’s also took eleventh place in Division 1. Team members: are Ray Navarro, Mike Ridley Tony Miguel and Ken Greminger.
DIVISION 1 DOUBLES: Eleventh place went to Don Engle & David Ebright; seventeenth place went to Ray Navarro & Ken Griminger.
DIVISION 1 SINGLES: First place went to Jim Becker & fourth place went to Ray Navarro.
DIVISION 2 TEAM: In third place was the team Elks Loyal Knights. Team members are; Dave Waldref, Marlin Keller, Don Engle & David Ebright. Also taking a third place was the Elks Chaplains. Team members are: Ernie Ridley, Mike Navarro, Jack Barnes and Jim Becker.
DIVISION 2 DOUBLES: in fifth place, Mike Conners & Ron Lindblad; eighth place, Gary Nagle & Jack Barnes; thirteen place, Mike Ridley & Tony Miguel.
DIVISION 3 TEAM: first place went to Elks Lecturing Knights. Team members are: Ed Anderson, Michael Efford, Richard Carver and Conrad Grinkiewicz. Second Place went to the Elks Rulers; Members of the team are: Gene Wright, Stan Haley, Ernie Ridley and Jim Becker. In third place was the Elks Leading Knights’ team. Team members are: Paul Arnold, Rhys Severe, David Murgia and Thuonp Tran.
DIVISION 3 DOUBLES: second place went to Stan Haley & Gene Wright; eighth place to Paul Arnold & Rhys Severe.
DIVISION 3 SINGLES: in sixth place was Stan Haley and in eighth place was Gene Wright.
HIGH SCRATCH SERIES: in first place was Jim Becker with a score of 729.
HIGH HANDICAP SERIES: in first place was Mike Efford with a score of 788.
ALL EVENTS DIVISION 1: second place ~ Jim Becker; seventh place ~ Ray Navarro.
ALL EVENTS DIVISION 2: eleventh place ~ Gary Nagle; twelfth place ~ Terry Lindblad; fifteenth place ~ Ron Lindblad; sixteenth place ~ Ernie Ridley.
ALL EVENTS DIVISION 3: First place ~ Gene Wright; eighth place ~ Paul Arnold; tenth place ~ Tony Miguel.
ELKS’ TRAVEL LEAGUE
The league will end this month on April 10th at Tyme To Bowl Lanes in Oroville at Gold Country Casino. Starting time is 1PM. Awards and Potluck will be April 26th. Standing going into the last two months are: 1st place, Chico #8 with 19 wins and 5 losses; 2nd place, Chico #6 with 14 wins and 10 losses; 3rd place, Chico #7 14 wins and 10 losses.

The Chico Elks Bowling League is in its fifteenth week. The Loyal Knights team is in first place with 20 wins and 8 losses. The members of the Loyal Knights are: David Waldref, Marlin Keller, Don Engle and David Ebright.
In second place are the PER’s team with 18 wins and 10 losses. Team members are: Ray Navarro, Tony Miguel, Robert Sisk, Mike Ridley and Ken Greminger.
On the weekend of February 19th, 20th, and then again the weekend of February 26th and 27th, all eight teams will be bowling in the annual Open City Tournament at AMF Orchard Lanes in Chico. Part of the League money pays for the team entry fees.
In December, the ladies of the Chico Elks bowlers held a bake sale and raffle: the money goes to the Major Project of Chico Elks #423. This event raised $235!

The Chico Elks’ Bowling League is now in its fifth week with the Treasurers’ team in first place with 17 wins and 3 losses. Team members are Gary Nagle, Steve Cullen, Jim Hair, Jack Barnes, and Carl Lorenzen, as the substitute for the team.
Some High Individual Scores for the League members are: High Scratch Series: Jim Hair—741; High Scratch Game: Jim Hair—279; High Handicap Series: Troy Lindblad—758; High Handicap Game: Troy Lindblad—290; High Handicap Game: Ray Navarro—290.
Elks’ Travel League After the first month of bowling, the League has three teams tied for first place with 3 wins and 1 loss. Chico #5, Red Bluff #1 and Chico #2 are the top scorers.
CHANGE: The League will be bowling on November 21st at Tall Pines Center in Paradise. This is a change from November 14th due to the Mixed Tournament in Chico.
Elks Bowling
The Chico Elks Bowling League started on August 30th at AMF Orchard Lanes. The League started with eight teams thanks to new members. Conrad Grinkiewicz started a new team adding two new members, Michael Efford and Richard Carver. Rhys Severe started a new team with members Brian Holderman, Neil Grosman and Paul Arnold; also welcome Ken Greminger who took Robert Sisk’s spot until he is back on his feet. The Treasurers (team #6) started off with 4 wins. Team members are Gary Nagle, Jim Hair, Steve Cullen & Jack Barnes. Team #1, the Lecturing Knights, also started with 4 wins. Members are Ed Anderson, Michael Efford, Richard Carver and Conrad Grinkiewicz. The last weekend of October four teams will be bowling in Fresno at the California State Senior Tournament.
ELKS TRAVEL LEAGUE
The Elks Travel League has changed it’s bowling date for October. It was to bowl in Reno, NV, on this date but could not set up rooms at a fair price. It will be bowling at Tyme to Bowl Lanes in Oroville (Gold Country Casino) on October 17th. Starting time will be 1 PM. Thank you goes out to Tyme to Bowl for letting us bowl there.
